Physical preparation for artists

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.

Are you in front of the computer, reading from your cell phone or using your tablet? Are you sitting or lying down? Do you feel your back? Are you resting on the flesh that covers your ischia? Are your neck muscles tense? What is the distance between your shoulders and your ears? How do your arms fall? Is the table touching your elbows? How are you breathing? How's your jaw? Are your eyes leading your head forward? What muscles are you using to navigate this site? Do you feel your clothes rubbing against your skin? Are you sliding your fingertips or gripping the mouse? Any little thing I'm two screens away.

Fluage

Fluage is a platform for Physical Preparation and Active Flexibility that I opened in 2019 with the desire to share my practices and reflections on dance and training.

It offers regular training by a specialized team and intensive workshops with diverse dancers and invited artists.

Our work philosophy is based on affection, care, reflection, research, autonomy and teamwork. The trainings are safe, empathetic spaces with a gender perspective. We work to raise awareness about the importance of kinesthetic health in dance(s) and live arts and we propose strategies to collectivize the care of our bodies.

Physical preparation

Hands replace feet and feet replace hands, and hands replace feet, and feet replace hands. Burn the floor, burn the floor, burn the floor, burn the floor, burn the floor. I jog, do a plank, jump on one foot, do an anterior split and move from one station to the other. How can I be in transitions without losing agility? How do I take care of my joints during impact exercises? Does foot work help me distribute the effort?

In the Physical Preparation classes we train in a tensegrity and functional way with Active Global Stretching, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization and Functional tools. We work to improve proprioception, peripheral vision, neuroplasticity and agility. The training sessions are safe, empathetic and group spaces. Each exercise is adapted to the needs of each trainer. We closely and carefully accompany those who are in the recovery phase of an in

Comprehensive Physical Preparation Program

Comprehensive Physical Preparation Program, Specialized Dance Training Espai La Granja

Can you imagine having weekly high-performance training at La Granja? At Fluage we promote the Comprehensive Physical Preparation Program with the aim of democratizing access to updated tools consistent with scientific advances in kinetic health, capable of preventing injuries and improving the performance of dancers and performing artists in the Valencian Community. We invite you to learn about the complete project through this link.

The Comprehensive Physical Preparation Program (PIPF) is a set of physical preparation and active flexibility training, specially designed to be incorporated as part of the regular activities that Espai La Granja offers to the Valencian dance community. The main objective of the PIPF is to significantly improve the professional quality of movement artists. To do this, it proposes three axes of work: 1) stability-balance-symmetry; 2) power training; and 3) fatigue delay. This programme is organised around regular training sessions: four weekly physical preparation sessions and two weekly active flexibility sessions. Participants are invited to adopt a specific work routine, to use it whenever they wish, beyond the scope of classes (on tour, before performances or rehearsals, etc.).

Active Flexibility

I peel the flesh off my thighs, roll the pelvic floor, pectoral muscles by hand and I start to peel all the muscles off the bone. If I need more, I ask my feet. How much importance do I give to range? What do the subtleties tell me? How is it to flex tissues from intuition? Are the bones what support us?

Active Flexibility classes are especially dedicated to flexing, decompressing and enabling myofascial chains. Based on Active Global Stretching®, the classes provide you with practical tools and the theoretical-scientific framework necessary to accompany your practices with flexibility routines. Active Global Stretching®, created by Philippe Souchard, transforms the manipulative techniques of Global Postural Reeducation (RPG) into self-postures, opening up the fascinating world of autonomous practice.
